The Challenge
The Face of poverty does not discriminate on racial or ethnic lines. It does not care where you are from, or what you may do. It is has only one goal, to perpetuate the detrimental symptoms of our broken system. There are roughly 3.8 million people living here in Los Angeles. But over 22.1% currently live below the poverty line. This is the reality of poverty.
The Mission
The Wilshire FamilySource Center, a Citywide Collaborative with Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa’s, mission is to combat poverty by providing both educational and financial resources to low-income communities here in Los Angeles; to identify the causal roots of poverty and to provide the Los Angeles community with the logistical and technical support to navigate Government Services and Programs. Above all, the Wilshire FSC is committed to strengthening the community by empowering its respective leaders by equipping them with the proper tools and opportunities to ensure sustainable transformation of the community.

The Vision of KCCD’s FamilySource Center Collaborative is two-folds:

Contribute to ANTI-POVERTY
Donorship: The Campaign Against Poverty.
Our campaign against poverty is contingent upon our collective will to act via contribution. Our Anti-Poverty Collaborative is supported by the City of Los Angeles and various active Non-Profits such as the Bresse Foundation, Legal Aid of Los Angeles, Oakwood Resource Center, and the Children’s Bureau, in the belief of strength in numbers. Therefore, we call for your individual support as a donor and as leader of our community.
Sponsorship: The Movement Against Poverty
As our Annual FamilySource Center Agenda is coming to a near end, we will host a series of events raising awareness on our Free Services and Programs and our campaign for healthy food for the community. We will be outreaching with our respective partner organizations and churches, such as the Wilshire Christian Church. For each of our Outreach Events, we encourage you to become a sponsor by contributing and joining our movement against poverty.
